Studying and applying the Bible is necessary to the development of our Christian life. Bible study plans are designed to assist us in knowing more of the Bible. There are many different plans; from Book Order style plan, which is reading from Genesis to Revelation, to Chronological style plan, which is reading the Bible in the order that events happened, and every other style in-between.
There is also the matter of which Bible translation one prefers.
Many Churches prepare their own reading plans and there are also now numerous websites with Bible reading plans made available.
There are video, audio and mobile formats. Please check out these sites.

Here is a list of Bible features you might find interesting . . .
| Bible Features | How they are used |
|---|---|
| Text Bibles | Text Bibles are typically just the text of Scripture with no additional notes. |
| Reference Bibles | Reference Bibles typically contain the text of Scripture plus a verse cross-reference system, so the reader can refer to related passages. Cross references won't be comprehensive, but will point out the main passages that discuss this idea. |
| Red Letter Bibles | Red Letter Bibles indicate the spoken words of Christ in red. |
| Thumb Index Bibles | Thumb Index Bibles help users quickly find Bible references. A thumb index is either cut into the page edging or attached as a label. |
| Devotional Bibles | Devotional Bibles are perfect for quiet time or reflecting on Scripture. Devotional thoughts are interspersed with Scripture in an easy-to-follow daily format. Ideal gifts for marriage and birthdays for close relatives and friends. |
| Study Bibles | Study Bibles are appropriate for those who want to learn more about biblical people, places, times and specific Bible passages. A Study Bible has footnotes and articles intended to enhance your understanding of each passage. Study Bibles can also include maps, charts, book introductions, outlines and concordances. |
| The Chronological Study Bibles | The Chronological Study Bible is the only Bible that presents the text in chronological order - the order in which the events actually happened. |
| The Life Application Study Bibles | The Life Application Study Bible contains notes that not only explain difficult passages and give information on Bible life and times, but also go a step further to show how God's Word speaks to every situation and circumstance of life. It's the one Bible resource that incorporates today's top scholarship in answering "now what?" questions and includes nearly 10,000 Life Application notes and features designed to help readers apply God's truth to everyday life. |
| Thematic Study Bibles | A system of Bible reading and study allowing the Scriptures themselves to address over 2,000 themes. |
| Parallel Bibles | Parallel Bibles feature the easiest Bible format for comparing two or more translations side-by-side. Reading the Scriptures with the translations on the same page sheds a new light on reading the Bible. Setting beloved and classic translations side-by-side, parallel Bibles allow readers to gain insight from the distinctive nuances of each translation. |
| Gift Bibles | Usually white in a presentation box, gift Bibles are the ideal present for Christenings, Confirmations, Weddings and other special occasions. |
| Children's Bibles | Children's Bibles are designed for children of various age groups. Some of these Bibles may be used by children alone, with a parent or in a class. Simple children's Bibles wil have the text of Scripture plus a few coloured pictures. There are also children's Bibles that include features seen in adult Bibles but designed just for kids - features like study and application notes, pictures, drawings and devotions. |
