Bible is one of the sacred books in Christianity. Although there are lots of Christian books nowadays, there are no books which can tell you all about God and Jesus Christ than the Bible. If you want to know Jesus personally, you have to read your Bible, because the Bible serves as the autobiography of Christ. The Bible is a complete compilation of ancient writings including the book of Old and New Testament. The Bible has always been used by all Christian churches all over the world.

Because of modern life, many people forget about their Bible. Some have just placed it in one corner of their house and never read their Bible again, ever. If you are one of these people who have neglected their Bible for years, then you are missing not only half of your life, but you are losing your entire life. Why don’t you pick your Bible and start reading it today, before it’s too late? The Bible contains all the truth you have to know about the life of Jesus. You will discover your problems and hardships in life are incomparable to the suffering and hardship Jesus endured to save you.

Bible is considered as one of the greatest Christian books ever created. Maybe you are thinking why is Bible considered as the greatest book ever created? This is because the Bible is talking about the greatest man who ever lived on this earth and this man is Jesus Christ. The Bible is not just worthy of your time reading, but you must read your Bible daily. Here are important facts all Christians need to know about the Bible.

1.The Bible tells about the history about how God created everything such as the sun, moon, earth, animals, plants, universe and the most important creation of God is “man”. This is not just a history of how earth and man was created, but this is a fact which all people should appreciate. You will also learn how God created men as special in all his creation. God appointed men to serve as steward of His creation. Men even today have the responsibility of taking good care of God’s creation, because men are the stewards of everything on this earth.

2.The Bible tells about the story of how Jesus Christ was born. The birth of Christ is one of the most important writings inside the Bible. You will know all the struggles Mary and Joseph endured just to save Jesus’ life. This shows how hard Jesus’ life was going to be on this earth, even while He was not yet born.

3.The bible talks about all the miracles Jesus did. You will surely be inspired by how Jesus helped many people during the hardest times of their lives. You will see how kind-hearted and forgiving Jesus was during His time on this earth.

4.The greatest and the most important part in the bible which makes it the greatest Christian book is how Jesus saved us from our sin. Jesus was crucified and died on the Cross to save peoples’ sins. Do not let any single day pass without reading your Bible and knowing the messages of Christ for you.

One woman recounted an incident with her one-year old son, “I was very ill and so weak in bed one day, but when I heard a bump on the stairs, I didn’t know where the strength came from, I went flying out of the room to check that my son was alright.”

A lady preacher once said, “A man has the physical strength to punch the lights out of someone, carry kilograms of load and such things, but a woman’s strength; to carry her child for miles in order to get help.”

MOTHERS IN THE BIBLE

Eve: Had called Cain ‘seed’ and then Seth ‘seed’, thinking of the seed that God had spoken about. Children are indeed seed for us.

Sarah: After so many years of barrenness, she laughed within herself when the Lord said she would have a child – even though she had passed the age of child-bearing. The Lord declared, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”

Rebekah: The Lord granted Isaac’s plea for his wife’s barrenness and she became pregnant with twins. She didn’t know what the matter was with her as the children struggled together within her. She asked, “If all is well, why am I like this?”
She inquired of the Lord and the Lord answered her.

Rachel: When God remembered her, she proclaimed, “God has taken away my reproach.”
She also prophesied another son for herself.

A daughter of Levi: Moses’ Mother saw that he was a beautiful child and hid him for 3 months risking her own life.

Naomi: Lost her husband and her two sons, but had to adopt Ruth as her daughter, after Ruth clung to her and refused to leave her. What a reward Naomi got in a daughter like Ruth! Naomi gave her good advice. The women of her town blessed Naomi and her ‘grandson’ and proclaimed, “Praise be to the LORD, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.”

Hannah: We all know of Hannah, whose husband gives a double portion because he loves her, although the Lord had closed her womb. She was in bitterness of soul and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow to the Lord. She conceived and bore a son. She named him Samuel. She stated, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”
The time came to fulfil her vow and after the child was weaned, her husband allowed the Lord’s word to be established.

A poor widow: A certain woman, a prophet’s wife saved herself and her two sons by crying out to Elisha, the Prophet. She followed his instructions and thereby saved her sons’ futures.

Shunem woman: A woman who lived in Shunem, had a son as a reward for welcoming Elisha, the Prophet, into her home. Her only words were “It is well”, when her son died in her arms. She had gone miles to look for Elisha and had said to him, “As the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So Elisha had no option but to return home with her and she received her son back alive.

Isaiah 66:12. On her sides shall you be carried and be dandled on her knees. As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you…

Jeremiah 1:5 – Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you…

Mary – Mother of Jesus: A prophesy about her – “Behold, the Virgin shall be with child and bear a son and they shall call his name Immanuel” (God with us). Truly, she is blessed among women and blessed is the fruit of her womb. Mary marvelled at the things spoken of Him and she also saw Him do many miracles.

Canaanite woman: A woman of Canaan cried out to Jesus to heal her daughter who was demon-possessed. “Have mercy on me”, she begged. His disciples wanted Jesus to send her away. She was disturbing them, they said. Jesus also mentioned he had only been sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then she came and worshipped him, pleading, “Lord, help me!”

An exclamation mark! A lot had been meant in just that statement. All her emotions involved.

Jesus answered, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.” Her answer was amazing.
“Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their master’s table.” Imagine that! She only wanted a little crumb from the Lord. She knew it would be enough. He could do it. Jesus was moved and answered, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” Her daughter was healed that very hour!

How he died on the tree
All in Isaiah fifty three
A King coming to earth
Yet had no noble birth

An invisible crown on His head
Born in a stable for a bed
Leaving His throne for humanity
He had no beauty or majesty

His appearance was not desirable
The reception He got was terrible
Though all heavenly hosts hailed Him
Pharisees and Sadducees hated Him

He was despised and rejected
With sorrow and pain afflicted
He was pierced for our transgressions
But man will still not make confessions

Like sheep we all go astray
Each one following his own way
On Him the judgment guilty
Though nothing on Him was filthy

On that frightful afternoon
Which upon Him came too soon
He walked that lonely road to Calvary
Then hung on a cruel tree

Cut off from the land of the living
Yet with His death salvation bringing
On Him death had no hold
The third day His resurrection bold

He stormed the gates of hell
Released captives from their cell
The kingdom of darkness was shaken
From Satan the key of death taken

Today in heaven glorified
By His blood we are purified
At the right hand of the Father seated
For Satan has been defeated

Sorrow Not . . .

I was so encouraged by what I read recently in a book referring to 1Thess.4:13. It was bluntly titled, ‘Sorrow Not’.

The writer referred to some recent deaths in his family, so he had a good opportunity to be very sorrowful. Although it seemed to be the natural thing to do, he said he had to stand against that feeling, by faith. He knew he had to stand on God’s Word not to sorrow or grief.

Grief and sorrow have the ability to choke the Word and cause it to become unfruitful in our lives. Since sorrow can be a heavy weight of loss in our lives, Heb.12:1 tells us to lay aside every weight.

The writer went on to list the things to do in order to lay this weight aside:
1. Remember Jesus defeated sorrow and bore if for you.
2. Use the power of the Word.
3. Don’t be fooled by your flesh.
4. Always see grief and sorrow as spirit beings – not just emotions. They want to take over your emotions and take over your life.
5. Begin to minister joy to others.

Remember that no matter what the source is, sorrow will drain you of life and strength each day; so search your heart and don’t allow any sorrow there.

Another interesting part of this writing, was when the writer again referred to Mark 4:19. There, Jesus explained the Parable of the Sower to His disciples and about the seeds that fell among the thorns. These are people who hear God’s Word, but all too quickly the message is crowded out:
- by the worries of this life
- the lure of wealth
- the desire for other things.

He wrote that when we face painful situations, the sorrow we feel can fall in the category of ‘the desire for other things‘. It is easy to begin to lust after the gush and rush of sorrowful emotion, letting it flood our soul. We may be grieving over things that happened years ago, seemingly small disappointments or even over something that hasn’t even happened yet. In a way, we could be enjoying all the attention, sympathy or such that goes along with the sorrow.

He urges us to speak the Word. Speak it to ourselves and to those who are in sorrow and the Word will begin to produce a powerful force of joy. Strength begins to come like a flood. Our emotions get in line with the Word. We have Jesus, so no more sadness!

Be encouraged to take a stand against sorrow today and lift up your head!

The New Year gives us yet another chance to get things right. It is good to make godly resolutions. In taking steps to do this and be successful, it is important to know what you really want to achieve in your whole life. Some of the resolutions you may want to achieve may actually take more than one year. Some things take time, so don’t be discouraged when things don’t happen as fast as you think they should. Set your resolutions for what you can achieve in the scope of your entire life.
What is really important in your Christian life?
Set a simple and specific goal for your spiritual life and be prepared to keep on the right road with God through the year, the year after and for the rest of your life.
Making things simple produces profound results with God.

In Micah6:8 – we are reminded to walk humbly with God. This New Year, reaffirm your relationship with God. God knows your heart, so ask Him to show you the areas of sin and weakness that hinder your spiritual growth. He is faithful to forgive when we confess and repent of our sins – 1John1:9. Ask God to refresh you and give you a new vision to see your life from His perspective for the year ahead. Renew your commitment to His vision and purpose for your life – Prov3:5-6.

When God Made You He Had a Plan and a Purpose.

When God made you what was he thinking?

The other day I was considering why God made me who I am. Have you ever wondered that? I am personally convinced that when God made you and me, He had a plan in mind. None of us is the leading character in the story of our life.

The June 2004 issue of Reader’s Digest reveals the true story of Mary Clarke, a woman who dreamed of being rich, married and raising a family with seven children. It all came true, but twenty-five years later her marriage ended in a painful divorce, that to this day she will not discuss. With her marriage over and her children grown, she began searching for God’s true purpose for her life.

In 1977 Mary Clarke became Sister Antonia and made La Mesa Prison near Tijuana, Mexico, her permanent home. Since then Sister Antonia has lived by choice in a ten-foot concrete cell and devoted her life to serving the prisoners at La Mesa. Over the years she changed thousands of lives. Former inmates have named their children after her.

“I live in a prison,” she says, “but I have not experienced one day of depression and never felt hopeless. I have never once felt there wasn’t something I could do to make things better.”

Mary Clarke’s life has turned out much different than anticipated. She never dreamed of living in a prison and serving criminals. Eventually, she discovered something God wants all of us to recognize: None of us is the leading character in the story of our life.

There comes a time when we begin to notice God’s providential leading. It is God’s intervention in our lives that reminds us that He is the leading character. The things that happen in your life are things God allows for a reason. God never makes mistakes.

In the various spiritual books I’ve read on the subject of God’s guidance, there are five recurring themes that I have discovered:

God is always reliable, but never predictable.
God brought me to this place. This is God’s appointment.
God will give me the grace to behave as His child. His love is sufficient.
God is refining me. In the end this trial will turn into a blessing.
God will bring me out in his time. He alone knows when and how.

When God made you, He had a plan. No man has any say about the time or the place of his birth. The Bible teaches that God determines that without consulting us – Acts17:26.

Have you ever considered that God is behind everything that is happening in your life – from birth to death?

Are you aware that God is leading you right now? Ask Him to make His plan clearer.

Trust His timetable. Credit God with knowing what He is doing.

None of us is the leading character in the story of our life.

On Christmas day – December 25th – every Christian should honour the birth of Jesus Christ. Remembering His birth is central to the Christian Faith. Christmas is a time of celebration. The celebration of the birth of our Lord. He is the heart of Christmas.
Jesus was born of a virgin and began His human life as a helpless and dependent baby, just as we all do. No one knows the actual day that Jesus was born, but we marvel at the miracle and mystery of the birth of our Lord.
Jesus is the reason for the season.
We don’t celebrate ‘a day’, but we celebrate the fact that God in the person of Jesus Christ came to Earth to save us from our sin. God the Father gave us the greatest gift.
A free gift.
Accept it today.
God bless you.

Christians just love giving gifts to people, especially to non-Christians. Today, as a born-again Christian, filled with the Holy Spirit of God, I thank every one of my brothers and sisters in Christ who gave me a tract or a book. I will never forget their kindness and love. I realise now that they were thoughtful in their giving and I very much appreciate that.

I am sure most of them didn’t know that they were planting the seed of salvation in me.

I must confess that I didn’t read all of the books given to me, but I was touched by the ones I did read, even the ones I didn’t finish. An example is one where I read just a chapter, maybe two. I can’t remember the title of this particular book, but it was one where the story stuck in my mind for a long time. It was about the abduction of a rich heiress who was then released supernaturally by God. I remember discussing it with my cousin’s wife, who had given me the book, and she tried to explain it to me. As far as I was concerned at the time, it should have been classed as fiction rather than a true account, which is what the writer claimed. I didn’t believe it, but I wondered if God did do that kind of thing. I am glad to say I am now totally convinced that He does.

In my early years as a Christian, books were given to me both to encourage me and for my spiritual growth. Even though I didn’t read all of these books, sometimes the titles alone were very meaningful and they would give simple words of wisdom. I could meditate on what they meant for a long time. Very often, just the titles gave me confidence when I needed it. One such was Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things. My mindset at the time didn’t let me think this was possible. I’ve changed my mind since then.

I thank the Lord God Almighty for bringing all these people across my path in life.

I am glad that, at the present time, Scripture is found written on ordinary everyday things like mugs, bottles, journals and clothing, to encourage, comfort, inspire and bless people. It brings the concept of Christian gift-giving to a broader audience.

Jesus said “Go into all the world and preach the gospel (Good News) to every creature” and “Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you”.

Since knowing and reading Scripture is essential to knowing Jesus Christ, it must be translated so that people all over the world can truly understand its message.

The Bible has been translated from the biblical languages of Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek into many different languages.

Wycliffe Bible Translators is an organisation involved in translating the Bible into every living language. The focus of Wycliffe Bible Translators is that the Bible be made accessible to every people group.

The Bible Society also does tremendous work all around the world and helps in bringing the Bible in Audio, Braille and Sign Language formats.

BibleGateway.com is an excellent online resource for reading different versions of the Bible and in many different languages.

Modern English Bible translations are based on the original Biblical languages of Hebrew & Greek.

There are a wide range of English Bible translations available to suit a variety of purposes – including academic study, public reading and personal devotions. Here is a summary of the key Bible translations available.
