Christians just love giving gifts to people, especially to non-Christians. Today, as a born-again Christian, filled with the Holy Spirit of God, I thank every one of my brothers and sisters in Christ who gave me a tract or a book. I will never forget their kindness and love. I realise now that they were thoughtful in their giving and I very much appreciate that.
I am sure most of them didn’t know that they were planting the seed of salvation in me.
I must confess that I didn’t read all of the books given to me, but I was touched by the ones I did read, even the ones I didn’t finish. An example is one where I read just a chapter, maybe two. I can’t remember the title of this particular book, but it was one where the story stuck in my mind for a long time. It was about the abduction of a rich heiress who was then released supernaturally by God. I remember discussing it with my cousin’s wife, who had given me the book, and she tried to explain it to me. As far as I was concerned at the time, it should have been classed as fiction rather than a true account, which is what the writer claimed. I didn’t believe it, but I wondered if God did do that kind of thing. I am glad to say I am now totally convinced that He does.
In my early years as a Christian, books were given to me both to encourage me and for my spiritual growth. Even though I didn’t read all of these books, sometimes the titles alone were very meaningful and they would give simple words of wisdom. I could meditate on what they meant for a long time. Very often, just the titles gave me confidence when I needed it. One such was Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things. My mindset at the time didn’t let me think this was possible. I’ve changed my mind since then.
I thank the Lord God Almighty for bringing all these people across my path in life.
I am glad that, at the present time, Scripture is found written on ordinary everyday things like mugs, bottles, journals and clothing, to encourage, comfort, inspire and bless people. It brings the concept of Christian gift-giving to a broader audience.

It’s a good testimony and I hope it will encourage people to give Christian books. We never know what will come of it. I find it funny that I read a book about a missionary when I was in primary school (and we weren’t a Christian family) and till today I remember the part where she lost her glasses and asked God to find them for her. That wasn’t what I thought God was like! I think God puts in our minds what we need to think about him.
I had a book title like that once too! Never Give Up, by Joyce Meyer. Just the title gave me so much encouragement for days before I finally read it. God is good.
